Minnesota State, the system of 30 state colleges and seven state universities, today released the results of a study that estimates the contribution of Minneapolis College to the regional economy to be $333.4 million dollars and 2,972 jobs.

Minneapolis College is announcing help for the city of Minneapolis to close the educational opportunity gap. The Division of Equity & Inclusion has hired permanent staffing dedicated to close that gap by supporting successful academic pathways for students.

In an area a third the size of a football field, the new Academic Success Center opened its doors for 6,700 students attending the College this fall. Looking over this large, ultra-modern space with its dedicated technologies, users can quickly see where they belong. And they can see the $156 spent per square foot.

Nearly 60 part-time tutors join the director and staff members in making sure students can obtain individualized support.

Minneapolis College was recognized with Minnesota State’s Innovative Partnering and Collaboration Award for its Summer Scholars Academy. The award was shared with Academy partners Century College, Normandale Community College, North Hennepin Community College and Saint Paul College. The recognition took place on October 24 during the annual Academic and Student Affairs Fall Leadership Conference at its awards banquet.

Starting Spring semester, textbooks savings will have gone past the million dollar mark since the savings program began Summer semester of 2017 at Minneapolis College. The price of traditional textbooks kept going up and up and up. Something had to be done and has been done.

Minneapolis College formed a committee in 2015 to address this major cost issue and started the program to reduce the cost of instructional materials for all students.
