1. Apply and Establish Course Placement

2. Watch Advising Resource Videos and Register for Classes
- Watch Advising Resource Videos
- Log in to eServices using your starID and password and register for courses
- Advising Assistance is available in person and virtually
3. Activate Email
- Log in to your Minneapolis College email account:
- Go to outlook.office.com
- Username: StarID@go.minnstate.edu (this is not your email address)
- Password: StarID password
- Authenticate login using MFA - Multi-Factor Authentication Guide
- Email Assistance Guide
- Your email address is different than your username and cannot be used as the username to sign in to your email account. View your email address at https://myaccount.microsoft.com
- If you are unable to log in 24 hours after registering for courses, try resetting your StarID password on the StarID Self-Service site. It can take some time for the password to sync from StarID Self-Service site to the Microsoft login page. Email passwords cannot be changed on the Microsoft login page.
4. Pay for College
- Meet Tuition Due Dates and Payment Policy
- Complete the free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): assistance available in the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center
- Check eServices for additional financial aid steps or to review your award
- Apply for Scholarships

5. Prepare to Begin the Semester
- Order Textbooks online
- Review your laptop lease program eligibility
- Attend a D2L Workshop and complete the following workshops in D2L:
- Create a Profile at Raise Me
- Explore campus activities and leadership opportunities
- If you are taking face-to-face courses:
- Obtain Campus Card
6. Have a Successful Semester
- Check your college email daily
- Log in to D2L Brightspace to participate in your courses. Courses appear in D2L the weekend before the semester begins.
- Read your syllabus for each class
- Stay connected with your instructors by attending their office hours
