Minnesota State Joins Google and NASH to Offer Microcredentials

Minnesota State has completed its first year in partnership with Google and the National Association of Higher Education Systems (NASH) to provide Google Career Certificates to students as co-curricular offerings or embedded into academic programs. In this first-in-the-nation partnership, Minnesota State is one of 11 higher education systems participating in this Microcredentials Community of Practice, an initiative of the Google AI for Education Accelerator.

MN Department of Health Partnership Highlights Student Designers

Since 2020, the Minnesota Department of Health has partnered with the Adobe Illustrator course at Minneapolis College to encourage students to create illustrations for a public health campaigns. This year, six designs were selected from students in the class for a campaign about vaccines, offering them the opportunity to work alongside the Minnesota Department of Health creative team to hone their designs and earn a generous stipend for their work.

During my upperclassman years of high school, I enrolled full-time at Minneapolis College through PSEO (Postsecondary Enrollment Options).

I remember telling my Pre-AP English teacher during lunch that I wanted to graduate high school with an associate’s degree. She and some girls laughed:

“You can’t do that, are you kidding?”

Metro Transit E Line Improves Access to Campus

The Metro Transit E Line is a new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route in the Twin Cities that debuted in December 2025, connecting the University of Minnesota, downtown Minneapolis, Uptown, and Southdale in Edina via Hennepin and France Avenues. It offers faster, more frequent service with amenities including heated shelters, all-door boarding, and dedicated bus lanes, replacing much of the old Route 6.

Empower and Thrive: Resource Fair

Hunger Free Campus Grant Helps Alleviate Food Insecurities

Minneapolis College was awarded a Hunger Free Campus Grant award in the amount of \$41,921 by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education. The grant program, established to address food insecurity at private, non-profit postsecondary institutions and tribal colleges in Minnesota, was a highly-competitive process with requests exceeding \$1,000,000 from 30 of the 33 Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.

Each year, the Minnesota State Board of Trustees recognizes excellence in teaching by honoring a select number of faculty from each campus as Outstanding Educators of the Year.

Minneapolis College is proud to announce that Jason Cussler (Business/Accounting) and Raquel Jarabek (Astronomy) have been selected as the College’s 2025–2026 Outstanding Educators. Both will also be recognized by the Minnesota State System for their exceptional contributions to student success and academic excellence.
