At the end of the academic year, we often look back at our experiences as a community. This year, it is important for us to look forward, as well. Reflecting on our challenges and accomplishments, I am filled with pride. Focusing on what they mean for our future, I am filled with excitement for what lies ahead.

Jr. Page Scholars Visit Campus

Jr. Page Scholars visited Minneapolis College in April to learn about career pathways as well as student experiences on campus.

This scholarship program is based on the Page Scholar program, founded by Diane Sims and former Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Alan Page, for college-age students of color. The Jr. Page Scholar program focuses on 8th graders who want to explore and gain insight on different career opportunities.

Two Minneapolis College Faculty Recognized with Awards for Excellence

The Board of Trustees of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities has recognized four individuals with Awards for Excellence. Included were Minneapolis College faculty Hope Doerner and Kendra-Ann Seenandan-Sookdeo. 

The awards are conferred annually to college and university teaching faculty and university administrative service faculty to acknowledge and provide systemwide recognition for consistently superior commitment to student learning and to encourage the ongoing pursuit of excellence at the colleges and universities of Minnesota State.

Minneapolis College Joins #CCMonth

Minneapolis College will join #CCMonth, a monthlong grassroots education and stigma-busting campaign coordinated by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT). The primary goals of #CCMonth are to improve awareness of the economic, academic and equity advantages of attending community colleges, and to bust longtime stigmas wrongly associated with public two-year colleges. 

BluePrint: The Spring Student Fashion Show

The culmination of the student experience in Minneapolis College’s Apparel Technologies program is the spring fashion show, Thursday, May 9, at 7 p.m. This year’s show features more than 75 designs made by 18 graduating students, from initial designs to patterns, construction, and fittings. 

The work of past designers has set expectations high for a creative, dynamic, and outrageous experience.  The show, titled “BluePrint,” will take place in the Minneapolis College Technical Building Plaza and will also be livestreamed.
