At 35 years-old, Minneapolis College Liberal Arts major Isaac Jackson said he is considered past his expiration date within his inner-city community. “There is no margin for error for people like me in America,” said Jackson, who spoke from his personal experience of being in and out of the system since he was a preteen.
Minnesota Humanities Center will hire paid discussion leaders for $100k grant project, “Examining Military Service from the Margins.”
The Minnesota Humanities Center (MHC) was recently awarded a $100,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) for a five-week discussion series, “Examining Military Service from the Margins.” U.S. Army veteran and Minneapolis College faculty member Miki Huntington is co-director of the project along with MHC Humanities Officer Karen Sieber.

As we enter the final warm and vibrant weeks of summer on our campus, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the progress we’ve made these past few months. Our campus has been bustling with activity. From academic pursuits to community engagement, I’m proud to say that we have achieved remarkable accomplishments in all areas of our college as we continue to strive for excellence.
Dr. Naomi Thomas will be joining Minneapolis College as Dean of Nursing, Health Sciences, and Wellness. Thomas’ first day at the College will be Wednesday, August 2.
Thomas has worked in healthcare leadership for more than 26 years in several capacities: educator, Administrative Nursing Supervisor, Patient Care Nurse Manager, Operations Manager, and Director of Clinical Operations. Her clinical experience consists of ICU, ED, Rapid Response, surgical services, and community health care.
The Xcel Energy Foundation awarded a $45,000 Conservation Improvement Plan (CIP) Scholarship Grant to the Minneapolis College Foundation to fund scholarships for students enrolled in the College’s Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) Program starting in Fiscal Year 2024.
Application fees will be waived during Minnesota State Week, June 26–30, at all 26 colleges and seven universities within the Minnesota State system. Special campus visits and information events are planned at Minneapolis College throughout the week.

This free program builds confidence and allows students to network virtually with peers and staff from Minneapolis College. This program also offers a chance for a \$300 scholarship towards fall semester tuition. Capacity is limited, registration closes on July 10.
When Minneapolis College alum Roberto Palma received his Community Health Worker Certificate in 2016, it introduced him to a network of supportive faculty and staff at the College along and a curriculum that taught him the basics of good health and how to link people to health care and social service systems.
