Minneapolis College Celebrates Its 2019 Outstanding Educators

On May 9 Minneapolis College held an event to officially recognize its Outstanding Educators for 2018-2019 academic year. Hosted by College President Sharon Pierce, staff and faculty alike gathered to show their appreciation for their colleagues. These instructors were selected from nominations submitted by their peers and students.

Lee Kopp, Longtime Minneapolis College Benefactor, Retires

Kopp Investment Advisors recently announced that Lee Kopp will retire as Chairman and close the investment firm in November.

That Kopp will continue to devote time and resources to The Kopp Family Foundation, one of the lifeblood contributors to Minneapolis College students, was received with a great deal of interest and applause.

Minneapolis College HVACR Students Excel at Statewide Competition

Four of our star HVACR students recently competed in the Minnesota State SkillsUSA HVACR contest held on April 13th at the Minneapolis Pipefitter's Training Center in Brooklyn Park. Brady Lockwood, third from left and wearing the gold medal, came in first place and will compete at the national SkillsUSA contest in Louisville, KY in June. HVAC-R Alum Karin Dahlin is Putting Her Trade Skills in Motion

When 2018 Alum Karin Dahlin was researching new careers, trades were at the top of her list.

She was impressed with the local technical college community and the array of choices offered.

“I landed on Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) because the field offers an opportunity to learn a number of skills and is a growth industry with competitive pay.”
