HVACR Department’s Industry Partnership Featured in Media
HVACR (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration) Instructors Greg Skudlarek, John Singel, and Hugo Morales secured the donation of a brand new, state of the art supermarket refrigeration system, and the donation of the work of experienced commercial HVAC/Refrigeration technicians and union pipefitters to install the system in our HVAC lab.
As a result of this donation, the College also received $170,000 in matching funds through the Minnesota State system’s Leveraged Equipment Program.
HVAC and Refrigeration Insider, a national publication whose primary audience is HVAC and Refrigeration contractors, published an article about the Minneapolis College HVACR Department’s success in obtaining donations of state of the art supermarket refrigeration equipment.

Vince Thomas, Dean of the School of Trade Technologies, adds,
“The HVAC Department is also using this donation to improve its curriculum. (We have) a new HVAC course, Supermarket Refrigeration, for the academic year 2019-2020."
As the article states, "When industry organizations, i.e. colleges, labor, and employers, unite to improve training, everyone benefits."
