Ever since Ibtisam Mohamoud was a young girl, she dreamed of being the kind of person who would have a hand in solving the world’s problems. The dream grew into an interest in government and politics in 2016 when she began immersing herself in studying the process. It was then she embraced the lifelong goal of being a congresswoman or senator.

When Emily Samuelson decided to go back to school after receiving her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota Morris, she was looking for a place that was convenient and had a wide range of opportunities available. “[Minneapolis College] is a place that fit who I was as a non-traditional student. They had a spot for me.”

Presidential Inauguration

As we continue to process events surrounding the inauguration of our nation’s next president, I hope you are taking care of yourself and those who rely on you. Recent events at our nation’s capital, threats made on our state’s elected officials and the increased public safety presence around us may cause anger, fear and grief. You may find it difficult, at times, to process the reports of violence and the sense of injustice these events may evoke. 

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Event

Minneapolis College will host a virtual celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Thursday, January 21 to encourage reflection on King’s dedication to equality and the civil rights movement.

“This year’s event revolves around connecting youth from various communities with the ideologies of this incredible leader whose work is equally as relevant today as it was during the peak of the movement he led,” said Minneapolis College President Sharon Pierce.

Andy Frye: Leading with His Heart

Andy Frye found his way to Minneapolis College in 2020 after the COVID-19 pandemic hit and his thriving career in the arts took a dramatic shift. An artist for more than 15 years, Andy made a reputation for himself in New York, regionally and in Minneapolis as a professional actor, voice over artist, director, choreographer, visual artist, creator and writer.
