Tutoring and Mentoring Appointments
Work online or in person with a tutor in writing, math, biology, chemistry, study skills, computer software, or other subjects. If you don't need help with a specific course, but would like to talk with someone to troubleshoot a problem or get to know the many college resources, meet with one of our student peer mentors for an encouraging and empathetic ear!
If you have any questions, please email the Academic Success Center or call us at 612-659-6140. Calls are received Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
SCHEDULING Process:
- Login to Navigate. Select "Appointments," then "Schedule an Appointment."
- Navigate will indicate whether your appointment is online or in T3200.
If your appointment is online, activate your college Zoom account through D2L/Resources/Zoom; log in with your StarID. - At the appointment time, click the link in the confirmation email for online appointments, or check in at the front desk in T3200 for on-campus appointments.

Tutoring Success Tips and Expectations
- Be on time and keep appointments. Students may schedule and change appointments through Navigate or by contacting the Academic Success Center at 612-659-6140.
- If you will be late or you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please let us know as soon as possible.
- All appointments unattended after 15 minutes will be marked as a "no show" and the spot given up to others.
- Arrive prepared. Our tutors can best help you if you complete these steps:
- Do the homework you understand.
- Write down your questions.
- Bring your class notes, syllabus, and/or assignment sheet.
- Silence your cell phone.
- Show academic integrity. This means maintaining high standards in doing your own work. Tutors can assist you by:
- Providing helpful study tips
- Reviewing and explaining key concepts
- Using examples
- Helping with assignment instructions
- Discussing patterns of errors and how you can correct them
- Offering tips to help you proofread, edit, or check your work
- Offering constructive feedback and encouragement.
Tutoring is not a replacement for attending class. Tutors cannot assist in any way with quizzes/exams, provide answers to an assignment, be on standby during completion of an assignment, "just check" or edit assignments or papers, or summarize reading assignments. For quality purposes, all online tutoring appointments are recorded.
- Enrollment in Minneapolis College courses is required.
- Enrolled students may receive one 50 minute tutoring appointment per class / service, per day.
- Alternately, students may choose to split this time into two 25 minute tutoring appointments in one day.
- If you want to make appointments for multiple services in a day, we request that you schedule with different tutors when possible.
