Where Community is built and inclusivity is fostered

The Equity and Inclusion Division works collectively with the College and community partners to dismantle inequitable systems, operationalize culturally responsive pedagogy through an anti-racist lens and rebuild systems for the advancement of our students.

The Division enacts this mission in four primary approaches:

  • Inclusive, intercultural programming designed to support and celebrate the diversity of student communities.
  • Professional development learning opportunities and trainings for our workforce
  • An equity-centered approach that aligns policies and procedures with the diverse needs and experiences of all students.
  • Culturally responsive academic advising and support designed to uplift all students, with particular care for those from historically underrepresented and marginalized communities, honoring the full range of student identities and lived experiences.

The Division builds trust and supports all students, while educating on the experiences of historically underserved communities to promote equity-minded service.

Strategic Priorities

Anti-discrimination policies and practices figure prominently in Minneapolis College’s Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Priorities and Equity Statement. Minneapolis College’s Equity and Inclusion Division was founded to inspire and work collaboratively with the campus community to accomplish these priorities.

Land Acknowledgement

Minneapolis College recognizes that it was built on and currently occupies Dakhóta land. It is important to acknowledge the peoples on whose land we live, learn, and work. We also acknowledge that words are not enough. We are committed to taking direct action in the decolonization of institutional structures that promote injustices and inequities.
