Fitness Center Policies
- The Fitness Center is open to currently enrolled Minneapolis College students.
- Minneapolis College Identification Card must be presented to the student worker at the check-in table when entering the Fitness Center. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Unaltered gym apparel only. No Jeans.
- Only proper gym shoes are allowed on the floor. No boots, crocs or black soled shoes allowed.
- Maintain proper hygiene.
- Respectful language, music, behaviors and use of equipment required.
- Spotters are required on the Bench Press.
- There is a 30 minute time limit on treadmills and elliptical machines when someone is waiting.
- Return all equipment to where it belongs.
- If you sweat, clean it up!
- Breathe! If you are grunting, then you are not breathing.
- No food, drugs or alcohol allowed; beverage containers must have a re-sealable lid.
- No loitering on the machines or in the Fitness Center.
- No bags of any kind allowed in the Fitness Center; please bring your own lock to use a locker for the day.
Open Gym Policies
- The gym is open to currently enrolled Minneapolis College students.
- Minneapolis College Identification Card must be presented to the student worker at the check-in table when entering the gym. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Only proper gym shoes are allowed on the floor. No boots, crocs or black soled shoes allowed.
- Respectful language, behaviors and use of equipment are required.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct or disrespect to staff will result in an ejection from the facility.
- Any ejected player(s) must leave the playing area and facility immediately and be completely out of the visual confines of the facility.
- Ejected players are ineligible to participate in all Open Gyms and Intramural Sports activities until they meet with the Campus Recreation and Wellness Coordinator.
- Reinstatement: Any participant ejected from an Open Gym or Intramural Sports activity must contact the Campus Recreation and Wellness Coordinator and schedule an appointment to seek reinstatement. The participant will not be permitted to play in any Open Gym or Intramural Sports activity until this meeting takes place. Suspensions from Open Gym and Intramural Sports that may result from meeting with the Coordinator of Intramural Sports must be served in a succession of dates.
- To regain eligibility, the ejected person must complete each of the following:
- Prepare a written statement detailing the events surrounding the incident. Include outline of events surrounding the ejection, actions that led to the ejection, assurance that the behavior will not occur again, suggestion for appropriate disciplinary action, and how the behavior will be avoided in the future. Submit statement to rachel.jorgenson@minneapolis.edu.
- Schedule an appointment to meet with the Coordinator of Intramural Sports to discuss the incident and attend the scheduled meeting.
- Backpacks, jackets and any other belongings should be locked up in the locker room and are not permitted on the floor for protection and safety.
- Minneapolis College is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged property.
- No food or beverage allowed in the gymnasium.
- Alcohol and tobacco are not permitted in the gymnasium.
- Dunking is allowed. Refrain from hanging on the rims.
- Bathrooms are located in the locker rooms. Enter/exit through the gym side doors only.
Tennis Policies
- During open tennis, the courts are open to currently registered Minneapolis College students.
- Minneapolis College Identification Card must be presented to the student worker in charge to use tennis equipment. The student worker will return the card when equipment is returned following play.
- Respectful language, music, behaviors and use of equipment required.
