The Minneapolis College Beyond the Yellow Ribbon steering committee is proud to announce the seventh annual Veterans Day Recognition Event, occurring on Tuesday, November 10.

The event will kick off with a live flag-raising ceremony at Noon, followed by brief remarks from President Sharon Pierce, story sharing and a panel discussion with Veterans.

Reg Chapman, award-winning WCCO-TV journalist will serve as this year’s keynote speaker. Chapman has a strong connection to Minneapolis College, having served as the annual Commencement emcee for nearly 10 years. Chapman is an Army Veteran and served during the Gulf War.

The Veteran’s Day Recognition Event:

  • Promotes a better understanding about working with veterans
  • Supports equity and inclusiveness (increase cultural competence)
  • Helps us recognize our community’s Veterans and Servicemembers
  • Celebrates that we are the land of the free because of the brave!

This event is free and open to all.

For more information and to access the day’s activities, visit the Veterans Day Recognition Event webpage.

The theme for this year’s event is Honoring All Who Have Served. In that spirit,  Minneapolis College invites people from the community to participate in the “Remember a Veteran” activity by completing the Remember a Veteran form no later than 10:00 a.m. on November 9. All submissions will be compiled into a slideshow.

Minneapolis College has a long, proud history of supporting student Veterans attending our college and was named a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Company in 2014 for efforts to support student and employee veterans, Service members and military families within our organization. The steering committee (which includes staff, faculty and students) continues its work to support Veterans and to educate and bring awareness and resources to our College community.
