Minneapolis Community and Technical College is proud to be recognized as a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon (BTYR) company. As a college, we have made a commitment to support student and employee veterans, Servicemembers and military families within our organization.
BTYR is a statewide initiative to recognize communities that demonstrate a commitment to U.S. military Servicemembers and their families by connecting them to community support, training, services and resources. The steering committee (which includes staff, faculty and students) continues its work to ensure that Minneapolis College can educate and bring awareness and resources to our military and to the Minneapolis College community.

Principles of Excellence / Executive Order 13607
The Principles of Excellence were announced on April 27, 2012, by President Obama in Executive Order 13607 to ensure that student Veterans, Service members, and family members have information, support, and protections while using Federal education benefits. Minneapolis Community and Technical College has signed the Principles of Excellence and diligently and willingly adheres to the standards outlined.
Military Connected Club/Student Veterans of America (MCC/SVA)
This organization provides resources, support, and current information to the veterans, students, staff, faculty and all interested parties in the Minneapolis College community.
SVA serves as a forum to ensure veterans are given the assistance needed to make the transition from military lifestyle to the civilian lifestyle and are aware of all of the opportunities available to them while a student to ensure their college education is a success at Minneapolis College.

Veterans Welcome Center
The Veterans Welcome Center, located in the Helland Center (H.2300), provides space for veteran students to relax, socialize and do homework. You will find peer information and support as well as computer labs available for your use.
Also located in the Welcome Center are numerous books and pamphlets regarding military service and benefits as well as visitors with valuable resources or viable programs for veterans.
Many military events that are offered around the State are also posted on the bulletin board. Please stop in and enjoy a great cup of coffee and great company!
Priority Registration
Priority registration opens for all veterans one week before each scheduled registration opens.
Notices are posted in the Veterans Welcome Center as a reminder.
We hope that our military students will take advantage of this opportunity to get the courses they want and need to complete their program.
