The United States Supreme Court has issued a decision concerning race conscious admission policies, ruling that colleges that consider race in admissions violate the Constitution.

The colleges and universities of Minnesota State are open access institutions and do not use race as a criterion for admission, so the ruling by the court on affirmative action will not have any impact on our admissions decisions.

Minneapolis College reaffirms its commitment to antiracism and racial equity. We will continue to work with and on behalf of our faculty, staff, and students to promote racial healing on our campus and in our community and to acknowledge and confront practices that marginalize communities of color. We remain devoted to our mission and strategic priorities, including eliminating equity gaps in educational outcomes.

We are proud to serve as a beacon of opportunity for our Black, Indigenous, Latine, and APIDA communities, first generation families, and families from across the socio-economic spectrum. Through our students, faculty, and staff and as an anchor in the broader community, we are fully engaged and committed to eliminating disparities and to shaping the landscape of the region’s future.
