Recently, we have been reminded just how complex, volatile, ambiguous, and uncertain our world can be—and it continues to evolve in ways that test us.

Change and uncertainty can bring stress. That’s why it’s more important than ever for us to care for our campus community, to care for one another, and to care for ourselves.

Care for Our Campus Community

Minneapolis College is a vibrant community, diverse and dynamic. Every day, we come together—bringing different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives—to learn from one another and grow.

One of the greatest strengths of a college environment is the opportunity to engage in thoughtful discussion, to question assumptions, and to challenge each other to think in new ways. Open exchange is at the heart of critical thinking and personal growth.

Even in moments of disagreement, we can choose to engage with empathy and respect, knowing that our collective strength comes from a diversity of voices and ideas.

Leading with kindness can go a long way—helping us bridge differences and build understanding, creating a community where everyone feels heard and valued.

Care for One Another

Each of us has the power to extend kindness, to be an advocate, and to contribute to a culture of care. We can lift each other up and work to create an environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.

We can recognize the humanity in each of us and actively advocate for respect, inclusion, and dignity for all.

We are stronger as we stand together. Even as political developments continue to unfold, we can continue to build a culture of support where everyone can thrive.

Remember that our Equity and Inclusion Division offers support resources and training opportunities for both employees and students.

Care for Ourselves

We also recognize that each of us is facing stress and anxiety. That’s why it’s essential that we take time for self-care.

Minneapolis College offers personal wellness counseling and other student resources, partnering with Mantra Health to offer 24/7 online mental health services and resources for currently registered students.

Faculty and staff can access self-care resources for free through the health and well-being program—part of the state’s Employee Assistance Program.

These resources are here to support you. Please don’t hesitate to use them.

I want to express my profound gratitude to each of you. Your dedication, resilience, and passion make Minneapolis College a truly special place.

Together, let’s continue to care for our campus community, care for one another, and care for ourselves as we navigate the changes ahead with strength and purpose.
