Spring Semester Campus Health and Safety

Widgets

To create a safe working and learning environment, all employees and students should be familiar with the health and safety measures in place for spring semester.

Despite the emergence of the Omicron variant, no cases of COVID-19 transmission on campus have been reported. This, combined with other important prevention steps, has allowed Minneapolis College to maintain safe operations for a healthy, dynamic academic and campus environment in the new year.

We are now asking community members to physically distance by six feet whenever possible (standing in line, passing in hallways, attending meetings). Doing this will reduce the number of close contacts and opportunities for transmission. Some areas of campus may not accommodate this, so maintaining at least three feet of physical distancing, along with the use of face coverings, is essential. The Omicron variant has proven to be even more contagious than previous versions of the COVID-19 virus, and all campus visitors should be increasingly vigilant.

For spring semester, continue to do what works:

  • Get a vaccination or booster as soon as you can. Vaccination is proving to be the best way to avoid serious health complications associated with the coronavirus.
  • Wear a well-fitted mask that meets CDC guidelines. Masks covering both nose and mouth are required indoors, both on campus and in the City of Minneapolis, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Stay home if you are sick. Many symptoms of the Omicron variant are like those of a cold or the flu.
  • Get tested if you have any symptoms or believe you were exposed to COVID-19.
  • Wash your hands to reduce the likelihood of COVID-19 transmission. This also reduces your exposure to influenza, colds and other illnesses.
  • Familiarize yourself with campus and department hours of operation. Staffing shortages may affect in-person services. Watch for communication from the College and visit the Hours of Operation webpage for more information.

Minneapolis College continues to follow guidance from the CDC, MDH and the Minnesota State System Office.
