Student Kaamil Hassan Awarded BOMA Scholarship
The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Greater Minneapolis has awarded 11 scholarships to students pursuing careers in commercial real estate and building management, including two students involved with the Commercial Real Estate Diversity Collaborative (CREDC) on January 23, 2024. The scholarships are aimed at students who are either studying commercial real estate or planning to become building engineers.

“We are excited to invest in the future of commercial real estate through the BOMA scholarship program. This initiative offers students a unique opportunity to learn, grow, and explore the many rewarding career paths within the CRE industry, ultimately empowering the next generation of leaders,” said Alexx Smith, Chair of the Board and General Manager at Transwestern.
In addition to supporting two CREDC participants, BOMA Greater Minneapolis invited applications from students at several prestigious institutions, including St. Thomas University, the University of Wisconsin – Stout, Dunwoody College of Technology, Dakota County Technical College, and Minneapolis College.
“These scholarships are just one-way BOMA Greater Minneapolis fosters the next generation of professionals in commercial real estate. We see this as the first step in a lifelong journey of mentorship, development, and support for these students,” said Sarah Anderson, President/CEO of BOMA Greater Minneapolis.
Minneapolis College student Kaamil Hassan was awarded a $2,000 scholarship to help further his studies in commercial real estate. Hassan currently serves as Chair of the Student Life Budget Committee and Director of Finance for Student Senate.
"This scholarship is a remarkable opportunity for a student like me. As a former P.E. intern, I loved the commercial real estate portion of the niche. This scholarship has opened doors for me in the industry. My goal is within ten years, I'll found a fund with $10 Billion AUM in renewable carbon-neutral A.I. data storage centers located in the Midwestern U.S. and East Africa. Providing safe, reliable, and secure data storage solutions in the present and future with national security and climate safety concerns. I'm thankful to God, BOMA, and Minneapolis College for providing me the with resources to succeed."
The scholarships were presented during BOMA’s Market Outlook education and networking session, which offers a comprehensive analysis of both the local and global real estate markets.
