Student Summer Employment with CDF Freedom Schools
Students, are you interested in becoming a K-12 educator? Are you in need of summer employment that will get you teaching experience?
If you said yes to either of these questions, Equity and Inclusion invites you to attend one of the upcoming Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School information sessions:
Monday, February 26, 2:30–3:30 p.m. in T.1400
Thursday, February 29, 10–11 a.m. in T.1200
What is Freedom School? Freedom Schools are culturally specific, 6-week, summer literacy programs for K-12 student scholars throughout the 7-county metro.
Each site teaches culture, literacy, STEM, and arts to students. Rooted in the 1964 Mississippi Freedom Summer and the Civil Rights Movement with a transformative vision of education for all children, the program aims to provide equitable outcomes in education for all children.
During the information session, you will have an opportunity to hear from Freedom Schools representatives, learn more about Freedom Schools, and what employment opportunities are available to you this summer.
