Tuition Reimbursement
Minneapolis College is committed to building a skilled and diverse workforce. Support from organizations offering tuition reimbursement for their employees encourages loyalty, while enabling employees to sharpen their skills increases their overall knowledge and helps them achieve career advancement.
What is it?
Tuition reimbursement is essentially a contractual agreement between an employer and an employee in which the company agrees to help pay for an employee to further their education. Programs vary, but common features include payment for coursework related to an employee’s current occupation, earning a certificate or degree to encourage organizational advancement or to incentivize hard-working employees.
“The tuition assistance program at Target allowed me to continue to invest in myself,” said Nate Gaut, Minneapolis College alum. “I was able to add to my professional skill-sets, which can be applied to my current and future careers.”
Career Services
Minneapolis College Career Services has a list of employer partners offering tuition reimbursement benefits, which can help students identify reimbursement opportunities at an organization. In addition, information is provided on the College’s website, including key partners offering tuition reimbursement benefits such as UPS, Hennepin County, M Health Fairview, Comcast and Ebenezer.
“It is becoming increasingly common for employers to offer tuition reimbursement benefits to their employees in hopes to retain them at their organization longer,” said Julie Poyzer, director of Career Services. “Career Services supports students in uncovering these opportunities and is dedicated to helping students throughout their college experience to feel more confident about their educational decisions and selected career path. We help students explore who they are, gain valuable learning experiences within the workplace and prepare them for a successful job search.”
