Wellstone International High School Moves to Campus
Wellstone International High School is joining the Minneapolis College campus community beginning fall semester 2022. The move will enable Wellstone students to readily access Postsecondary Education Options (PSEO) courses and seamlessly matriculate to the College upon graduation.
Wellstone International High School, part of the Minneapolis Public Schools system, serves more than 200 multilingual and international students ages 17-21. Wellstone students earn college credits while completing their high school pathway.
“Approximately 55 Wellstone students already attend Minneapolis College each year as PSEO students,” says Christopher Rau, Vice President of Finance and Operations. “Wellstone’s expanding student use of PSEO and increasing college matriculation is consistent with our mission of providing access to the transformative power of education.”
Wellstone International High School Principal Isabel Rodriguez is “thrilled about the new possibilities,” she says.
"As the principal of Wellstone International High School, I am feeling thrilled about all the new possibilities our students will be able to experience at our new Minneapolis College co-location. Our students will have access to a college-like experience, welcoming, and equitable spaces and resources. This will empower, and inspire them to reach their maximum potential, goals and dreams as well to challenge them to shape their future in amazing ways.”
Wellstone International High School will occupy space on the third floor of the college’s Kopp Hall and will have the option to schedule classes on the second floor. Wellstone will host its own computer lab and can schedule activities in the college’s art classrooms, conference rooms, the theatre, gym and weight room when they are not in use by the college.
