Outstanding Educators of the Year Announced
President Sharon Pierce has announced the Outstanding Educators for 2021-2022.
The following faculty members have been selected for recognition by Minneapolis College and the Minnesota State system:
- Lisa Bergin, Philosophy
- Kleber Ortiz, Education
- Jennifer Sippel, Librarian/Information Studies
Each year, the Minnesota State Board of Trustees recognizes excellence in teaching by honoring a limited number of faculty from each campus as Outstanding Educators of the Year.
Nominations are submitted from Minneapolis College students, employees and community members. A committee made up of former Minneapolis College Outstanding Educators select the finalists, whose names are forwarded to President Pierce.
“We are fortunate to have these skilled and dedicated individuals serving our students. All three of these outstanding educators are noteworthy for their commitment to developing and using culturally responsive pedagogy in their classroom, and for sharing their knowledge and skills with fellow faculty at Minneapolis College and throughout the system.”
These individuals will be honored at a recognition event to be scheduled for Spring 2022. They, and other Outstanding Educators from across the state, will also be recognized by the Board of Trustees on April 20, 2022. At this event, the Board will further recognize a subset of Outstanding Educators by conferring upon them the statewide Educators of the Year Award.
