The Student Life Department is excited to announce its plans for the first-ever Minneapolis College Fall Spirit Day! The event will take place on Wednesday, September 29 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. All students, faculty and staff are invited to wear purple and come and enjoy the festivities!

Various activities, sponsored by College departments and student clubs, will be held outside on the T-Plaza (rain location: Gymnasium). Activities will include inflatables, fun activities, bingo, lawn games, food, music and more!

“I am especially excited for our students because this is an opportunity for them to engage with our campus community and have some fun doing it, a little bit of fun is always great,” said Tonny Yang, Student Activities Coordinator. “Hopefully this will instill a sense of community in our students, faculty and staff. This Spirit Day could be the first of many.”

Additionally, during this event the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) will be on campus from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Representatives from MDH will be available to meet with students privately to answer questions regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. Students who wish to receive a vaccine will have an opportunity to do so. The Student Health Clinic has secured 50 doses of the one-time Johnson & Johnson vaccine to be distributed to students during this event.

Students have the chance to claim up to \$200 in gift cards as a vaccine incentive. For speaking with an MDH representative about the vaccine, students will be eligible for a \$100 gift card. Students who receive a vaccine, whether or not they have spoken to the MDH representative, will be eligible for the full \$200 in gift cards. Due to tax implications, employees are not eligible for these incentives.

“Offering this opportunity on campus removes some of the barriers to getting vaccinated, such as time and transportation,” said Sarah Kelley-Pegg, RN & FNP-C at the Student Health Clinic. “Hopefully the financial incentive will motivate people to consider getting vaccinated and to put their community first.”

Social distancing and masking policies will be in place during this event. Any questions can be directed to the Student Life Department.
