Title

Face Coverings Required on Campus

Body

Minnesota State Colleges and Universities has provided new guidance related to face covering requirements for its institutions. This guidance is based on the Center for Disease Control (CDC) updating their public health recommendations that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, wear face coverings in public indoor spaces in response to the increase in COVID-19 cases due to the Delta variant. This recommendation applies specifically to counties where CDC data shows a "substantial" or "high" level of transmission, which includes Hennepin County.

Therefore, Minneapolis College is reinstating the requirement for everyone on campus to wear a face covering, effective August 4. This includes all employees, students, visitors, contractors and vendors. This requirement does NOT apply to outdoor campus spaces.

Please watch for additional information in your email regarding fall semester. Also, remember to visit this webpage frequently as our campus continues to monitor and adjust our on- and off-campus activities. There, you will find information about vaccination opportunities on campus, guidance on courses and services, what to do if you contract COVID-19 and more.

We understand that returning to wearing face coverings may cause concerns for some. Students with medical conditions that prevent the wearing of face masks should notify Becky Nordin, Dean of Students with medical conditions that prevent the wearing of a face covering should notify Human Resources. As this pandemic continues to evolve, we will continue to monitor and adjust as needed. Our priority remains the health and safety of our campus community as we support our students in achieving their educational goals.

Thank you for doing your part to help ensure we continue our status as having had NO COVID-19 transmissions on campus!

 Best wishes,

 President Sharon Pierce
