Be inspired by the work of Black Men Teach, an organization striving to create conditions where Black male elementary teachers thrive in Minnesota. Black Men Teach Executive Director Markus Flynn will share information about how his organization’s partnerships with teacher training programs and other Twin Cities community-based businesses help to recruit, prepare, place, and retain Black male teachers. 

Wednesday, April 24, 11:30 a.m.–1p.m., in H.2650 (AME Space).  Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m.

Markus Flynn Bio

Markus Flynn is the executive director of Black Men Teach. In this role, he advocates for accessible and affordable pathways for Black men to become elementary school educators. As a leader in the Twin Cities community, he works with partner schools, teacher training programs, and community-based organizations to recruit, prepare, place, and retain Black male teachers. 

Markus’ passion for creating educational opportunities brought him to Minnesota to teach 5th and 6th grade science at Prodeo Academy. Markus received his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees from Iowa State University.
