Metro Transit E Line Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting
Minneapolis College will join Metro Transit, state and city officials, and community partners on Saturday, December 6, to celebrate the grand opening of the new E Line bus-rapid-transit service, which replaces Route 6.
Experience the new E Line for free between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6. Metro Transit staff will be present onboard E Line buses to answer questions about the new service, schedule, and fare payment.
Grand Opening Celebration:
10 a.m. — Ribbon cutting and media event in T Plaza and at the Metro Transit structure outside of the Technical Building on Hennepin Avenue
11 a.m. – 2 p.m. — Community celebration in T Plaza
- Family activities and entertainment
- Free commemorative poster (while supplies last)

- Photo station
- Metro Transit mascot Skip Traffic
- Community outreach booths
- E Line Passports to Adventure
The celebration also kicks off the E Line Passport Adventure (December 6–13), inviting the public to explore corridor businesses, collect stamps, and earn special prizes.
