Event Background:
Each November, colleges and universities nationwide celebrate the achievements and experiences of First-Generation students, staff and faculty.
This annual celebration honors the signing of the Higher Education Act on November 8, 1965, which helped expand access to higher education. It also acknowledges the perseverance and courage of First-Generation students as they navigate through the complex world of higher education.
