Eligibility Requirements
- Graduate from a Minneapolis, St. Paul or surrounding Suburban Public/Charter/Alternative or Private High School in Spring 2020.
- Meet the criteria to apply for Federal Financial Aid and complete the financial aid package by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov Minneapolis College’s School Code: 002362
- Posses a modest family income:
Example: A family of 2-10 with an annual income not exceeding $55,000 are highly encouraged to apply. - Select Course Placement to view the courses you can register for based upon your GPA, MCA, ACT or SAT scores!
Power of YOU Support Services
Current Students
Required student meetings will be conducted via Navigate, Zoom, Email or Phone.
When scheduling a meeting via Navigate, in the comments please indicate the method you’d like to meet along with your phone number

POY Staff is not collecting Community Engagement Hours for Spring, 2020 semester. Updates regarding all program requirements will be sent via email.
Advising
All POY students are assigned an advisor that will coach and assist them in navigating through their higher education journey at Minneapolis College.
Community Engagement Hours
All POY students are required to complete 10 hours of Community Engagement each semester. The goal is to learn about your community and develop skills that will assist you in networking, communication and career exploration.
The Power of YOU Requires Students To:
- Enroll as a full-time student (12-15 credits each semester)
- Maintain 2.5 grade point average each semester
- Attend classes on time daily
- Meet with POY Advisor three times each semester
- Complete 10 hours of Community Engagement each semester
- Complete Professor Feedback forms BEFORE mid-terms each semester
Acceptance emails to the Power of YOU will be sent via an email on June 5, 2020. Once accepted, please follow the steps in the email to solidify your acceptance.
If you are not selected to participate in Power of YOU, you will receive notification of other opportunities at Minneapolis College on or after June 12, 2020.
Application information
Application Steps
- Complete the online Power of YOU application form which is available early, starting today. This is a dual application: completing this application means, you have also completed the application for admittance to Minneapolis College.
- Select Course Placement to view the courses you can register for based upon your GPA, MCA, ACT or SAT scores!
- Submit the 2020-2021 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and complete the entire financial aid process. Apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. FAFSA School Code for Minneapolis College is 002362.
- Check your personal and Minneapolis College email: In approximately 2 weeks of submitting your FAFSA for any financial aid related notifications from Minneapolis College. If you have to provide additional information, you will be notified by email.
- How to login to your Minneapolis College student email account:
- Go to www.minneapolis.edu/eservices
- Select STUDENTS in the upper right-hand corner of the screen
- Select Eservices in the green bar in the middle of the screen
- Login to eservices with your STAR ID and Password
- Select the Financial Aid tab on the left-hand side of the screen and you will see the status of your FAFSA/Financial Aid
- Deadline: Friday, August 6, 2021.
Review Process: Once all required materials are submitted and completed, your application will be reviewed and considered for acceptance in the Power of YOU program. - Acceptance emails will be sent on June 4, 2021. Please follow the steps to solidify your acceptance in the email you receive. *Rolling admission will occur weekly until August 20, 2021.
- If you are not selected to participate in Power of YOU, you will receive notification of other opportunities at Minneapolis College on or after June 11, 2021.
