Body

Part 1. Purpose

To clearly establish the transfer appeal processes and resources at Minneapolis College.

Part 2. Definitions

Transfer: The evaluation of course(s) and credit(s) awarded by a college, university, or other education provider and the application of them toward academic program and/or degree requirements at a college or university.

Second Level Appeal: The second evaluation of course(s) and credit(s) awarded by a college, university, or other education provider and the application of them toward academic program and/or degree requirements at a college or university using information not available during the first evaluation such as syllabus or course outline.

Transfer credit appeal: A written, or electronic request submitted to appeal the transfer credit decision made by the Registrar’s Office. This may include meeting the criteria for transfer, equivalency or meeting course or program learning outcomes for the award.

Part 3. Transfer Credit Appeal

A student who disagrees with the results of the Minneapolis College transfer credit evaluation must request a second level transfer credit review to the Registrar’s Office before proceeding with an appeal to the Minneapolis College Vice President of Academic Affairs. The student must gather and submit any additional supporting documentation with the second level transfer credit review such as a course syllabus or course outline. All documentation must be received from the student during this stage before a decision is made.

A student who disagrees with the results of the second level transfer credit evaluation may request a transfer credit appeal to the Minneapolis College Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Part 4. System-Level Transfer Credit Appeal

A student who disagrees with the decision of the Vice President of Academic Affairs may appeal to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs of Minnesota State Colleges and universities.

At this final stage, the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs makes the final determination through the system-level transfer appeal process, and no further action is possible after this decision.

Additional information regarding the system-level transfer appeal is located on the Minnesota State Transfer Information page.
