Policy 7.03

Subtitle

Safety Equipment and Practices

Body

Part 1. Safety Equipment and Practices Requirements

Minneapolis College is committed to maintaining all appropriate and legal safety practices that apply to classroom, instructional, and student employment practices. Faculty will provide students with safety requirement information in the course syllabus, Student Handbook, or Program policies statements.

Students must adhere to safety requirements provided by instructors, laboratory employees, and/or supervisors. Supervisors will provide student employees with information about safety requirements and practices. Failure to comply with Minneapolis College safety requirements and practices, including those provided by instructors in the process of carrying out instructional programs, constitutes a violation of the Student Code of Conduct (see College Policy 4.04 and Procedure 4.04.01), and in some instances MN Statutes. Sanctions, including removal from the classroom or course, may result.

Part 2. Jurisdiction

The College has the right to take necessary and appropriate action to support and protect the safety and well-being of the College community. Minneapolis College students are expected to abide by local, state and federal laws, and College rules. The College has the right to proceed with disciplinary action.

These safety regulations apply on campus and at all College-sponsored activities, or activities sponsored by College clubs or organizations on or off campus.

All Minneapolis College students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with, as well as to conform to, College safety rules and regulations.

Part 3. Safety Practices

Students must comply with directions of College officials acting in the performance of their duties or with fire, police, or other emergency service personnel. Students are required to identify themselves to these persons when requested to do so, after staff have identified themselves.

Conduct that threatens or endangers the health or safety of any person at the College, or at College controlled, sponsored, or supervised functions is forbidden. Intentional, reckless, or negligent causing of physical harm to any person on the College premises or at College-sponsored activities is forbidden.
