Celebrating Our Nurse Graduates: Ready for the Frontline

December 2022 Nursing Pinning Ceremony

Our December 2022 Nursing Pinning Ceremony event will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 2 p.m.

Every May and December we gather at the college to celebrate the accomplishments of our Associate of Science in Nursing Degree graduates. Due to the ongoing pandemic, this important event has continued in a virtual format.

The event will kick off with a nursing division welcome and opening remarks from Dean Krause, Vice President O’Kane and President Pierce. There will be inspirational remarks from a chosen student and community nurse speaker and then the nurse graduates will be pinned.

During the Pinning Ceremony, each nurse graduate will be pinned by someone significant to their journey. The graduates were pinned by a loved one in their home or they were honorarily pinned by someone that could not be physically present with them at this time.

The Pinning Ceremony is a time-honored nursing tradition. The nursing pin symbolizes the completion of nursing educational requirements that enable the graduate to sit for the national licensure exam and then transition to the practice of nursing. At Minneapolis College, a school nursing pin is gifted to each graduate.

Once the graduates are pinned, the video will conclude with an engaging slideshow of the graduating nurses’ educational journey.
