Legacy in Motion

Dear colleagues, 

I want to take a moment to share an important update.

Due to the forecast of potentially hazardous weather conditions, we are postponing our Employee All College Meeting that was scheduled for tomorrow, April 2. 

I was looking forward to being together and sharing several important updates with you. Most of that can wait until we gather later this month. But there is one thing I did not want to delay.

Many of you have shared a desire to honor Alex Pretti in a way that reflects who he was. Alex was a nurse. A caregiver. Someone who chose a profession rooted in compassion, service, and showing up for others in their most vulnerable moments.

In that spirit, we reached out to his family. And I’m grateful to share that they have given their blessings for us to establish the Alex Pretti Memorial Nursing Scholarship. By making this an endowed scholarship, we are ensuring that Alex’s legacy will live on through the students it supports.

In the coming weeks, our Foundation will follow up with those who have reached out. If you feel called to support this effort personally, you can do so at minneapolis.edu/donate.

Thank you for your flexibility as we adjust plans, and for the care you continue to show one another and our students. I look forward to being together on April 24.
