Community Pollinators Speaker Series
The Minneapolis College Sustainability Committee, in partnership with numerous student clubs on campus, is presenting a new speaker series titled, “Community Pollinators.”
This speaker series will focus on the confluence of racial justice and environmental justice and seeks to amplify the voices of community leaders who “pollinate” our communities through education and application of sustainable practices.

Description:
Community Pollinators Interview #3 will feature Ranae Hanson, former faculty member and author of Watershed: Attending to Body and Earth in Distress.
Marie Harris and Derartu Berhanu, Minneapolis College graduates whose words appear in the book, will join Ranae.
Watershed tells of lives disrupted by climate instability and environmental injustice and explores the intimate connections between the health of individual bodies with the health of the whole. The book points towards ways to turn our paths too well-being and justice for all.
Sam Grant, March 5, 2021
Sam Grant is a former faculty member of Minneapolis College. Sam is the executive director of MN350, a Minnesota-based climate justice organization that seeks to unite Minnesotans as part of a global movement to end the pollution damaging our climate, speed the transition to clean energy, and create a just and healthy future for all.
The Minneapolis College Sustainability Committee, in partnership with the Three-Legged Frog student club, is presenting our second interview in our Community Pollinators speaker series.
Hindolo Pokawa, November 20, 2020
The first guest in this series spoke on November 20, 2020 and is a former student of Minneapolis College, Hindolo Pokawa.
Pokawa is the founder and executive director of the Sierra Leone Foundation for New Democracy (SLFND). SLFND provides culturally-specific and environmentally-focused programming for children and adults, including early childhood education and training for adults in regenerative farming practices including Permaculture in Sierra Leone.
