A Welcoming and Supportive Community for All
Ever since first joining Minneapolis College, and throughout my years of experiencing this community, I’ve grown to deeply value our ability to work and reason together, and our ability to empathize with one another—especially during difficult times.
I recognize that many of you are processing the recent election results in very different ways. Some students may be feeling uncertainty about what the future holds for themselves, their families, and their friends. Some employees may be wondering how their work will be affected, and they may feel concern for the students they care about so deeply.
While the future in many ways is unpredictable, the network of support here at Minneapolis College remains steadfast and strong. We are unwavering in our mission to foster an inclusive, student-centered community dedicated to providing access to the transformative power of education. And we press forward on our journey to becoming an anti-racist institution and with our work in support of Equity 2030.
This moment is our opportunity to come together as a community. We will focus on our strengths and aspirations. We will discover how best to support one another. I’ve heard from colleagues that students and employees are already engaging in meaningful dialogue during the post-election processing sessions. Equity and Inclusion will continue to offer opportunities for self-care and mindfulness while providing the campus community with access to support information and resources.
Our aim as an organization is still clear: to advocate for our students and employees, and to ensure that Minneapolis College remains a welcoming, vibrant, and supportive community for all.
Sincerely,
President Sharon Pierce
