Spring is a time to celebrate resilience—the way nature adapts to and recovers from the adverse conditions of winter. I celebrate the resilience and adaptability that each of you has demonstrated in steadying the course this semester, and I’m sure our students feel the same. Community resilience requires dedicated collaboration across professional disciplines at all levels. This is what enables our community to thrive.

The most important thing we do to support Minneapolis College’s mission and improve its financial health is to focus on student success. Our entire campus community must rally together around this primary objective. Ensuring student success is the job of every faculty and staff member. We must not only attract but also retain our students. We must give every student what they need to persist and to succeed.

Excellent work is being done across the College. Yet we also have great opportunities to produce and practice new and innovative ideas.

Please join me in dialogue at the All College Meeting, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., March 31. There we will talk about our goals for the future. We will explore how, individually and collectively, we can envision our post-pandemic future as a healing college that meets the learning needs and goals of all our students.

Thank you for your resilience and continued dedication to this work.

Sincerely,

President Sharon Pierce
