When Minneapolis College alum Christian Huble welcomes students from the Introduction to Business class on a workplace tour at General Mills October 29, a partnership with Career Services, he will offer more than a behind-the-scenes look at the company. By sharing his educational journey and professional experience, Huble will help students explore the many paths to career success and the opportunities that lie ahead.

A native of New York, Huble discovered Minneapolis 10 years ago and quickly fell in love with its hometown feel—a city that offered many of the opportunities and amenities of New York on a smaller scale.

In May of 2021, Huble earned an Associate of Arts degree in Philosophy from Minneapolis College. He credits the program’s passionate instructors and supportive learning environment with helping students thrive. He also valued the global perspective and decolonized approach explored in his philosophy courses.

“The program was outstanding and driven by passionate instructors who focus on providing quality education with the support that helps students succeed,” Huble said.

During his time at Minneapolis College, Huble also served as a coordinator in Student Life, where he gained valuable experience in leadership and collaboration. “As a student leader and staff member at Minneapolis College, I recognized the network you build is the glue that enables work to happen,” Huble said. “Minneapolis College allowed me to be myself and encouraged me to leverage my strengths so I could navigate life’s vast experiences.”

After graduating from Minneapolis College, Huble continued his education at Metro State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in individualized studies. The university provided a seamless transfer process, accepting all of his Minneapolis College coursework and awarding credits for his professional experience. He graduated in December of 2022.

Leading a tour of General Mills for Minneapolis College students brings Huble’s journey full circle. He first learned about the company as a student in the very same Introduction to Business class that now brings students to explore General Mills’ global campus through his eyes. Keeping in touch with a recruiter he met at that time ultimately led him to the position of North American Food Services Coordinator he holds today.

“The industry tours are an integral learning opportunity for students in the Introduction to Business class at Minneapolis College,” said Jason Cussler, a business instructor at the college who is proud to introduce a new group of students to Huble. “It helps students gain insight into the industry, learn about major company in our community, and explore key business areas, while discovering potential career paths. That’s a winning combination.”

Huble encourages students to be curious about different perspectives, challenges, opportunities, and experiences. “When you live and move with curiosity and empathy, a meandering path can lead to exactly where you want to be.”

Furthering his strong commitment to Minneapolis College and the community, Huble also serves on the Minneapolis College Foundation Board of Directors, a volunteer team of business and community leaders dedicated to supporting the mission of Minneapolis College.
