The Student Basketball Club Makes Its Mark
There's a renewed excitement for basketball on the Minneapolis College campus, thanks to the rechartered Student Basketball Club, which returned in the fall of 2023. With a dedicated ten-member team, the club has brought talent, energy, and enthusiasm back to the Bowman Gymnasium and beyond.
In addition to their participation in two Student vs. Staff games, where they dominated the employee and alumni teams in 2023 and 2024, the team has also emerged victorious in two Metro League tournaments!
The Metro League is a collaborative athletic initiative between Minneapolis College, Century College, Normandale College, and North Hennepin Community College. The league brings together Rec Coordinators to organize games, providing a platform for clubs to compete in Flag Football, Soccer, Futsal, Volleyball, and Basketball.
On March 26, the Student Basketball Club celebrated their most recent championship win in the Metro League, with team leaders—Captain Seth Bose and co-captains Markus Stratman and Chris Sparkman—alongside Coach Peter Yang, leading the charge.
The game featured several standout performances, including aggressive defense from Cephas Ouedraogo, Josh Pwanori Wonosikou, and Kenny Walters Junior. Omarion Miller was named MVP of both tournament games, averaging 20 points and hitting several three-pointers. Seth Bose, Markus Stratman, Chris Sparkman, and Abdi Abdikadir also contributed crucial three-pointers, while Ebrima Manneh and Hamze Jama played vital roles in securing the team's victory. Every player on the team made a significant contribution to the win, showcasing the strength and unity of the entire squad.

Congratulations to the Basketball Club for your hard work and dedication!
