Minneapolis College Legislative Advocacy Bootcamp and Town Hall Meeting
Understanding the Legislative Process and Tips for Citizen Advocacy
Minneapolis College students, faculty and staff are invited to attend an online Legislative Advocacy Bootcamp and Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, March 9 from 3 until 5 p.m.
The bootcamp will prepare you to support current and future Minneapolis College students by joining in legislative advocacy efforts. Learn about the legislative process, how to connect with legislators and how to advocate for Minneapolis College. This event will prepare you to talk with legislators about how lives are transformed through the unique educational experience Minneapolis College provides.
- 3 p.m. Advocacy Bootcamp – understanding how decisions are made and tips on using social media and other outreach tools to equip you to become an advocate.
- 4 p.m. Breakout Sessions – choose either Room 1 to gain an understanding of Minnesota State’s legislative request or Room 2 to gain an understanding of LeadMN’s legislative request.
- 4:30 p.m. Town Hall Meeting with legislators – meet with a legislator who was elected to represent one of the districts where most Minneapolis College students reside.
