Degrees of Possibility
RODRICA COGLE
My Minneapolis College Story
Prior to attending Minneapolis College, I had not met anyone who possessed a degree. And as a DACA recipient, I was unfamiliar and unprepared to navigate the university system. I initially completed the Sterile Processing Certification. The employment which followed allowed me to obtain employer tuition reimbursement. I used this to complete my liberal arts associate degree.
Afterwards, I transferred to the University of Minnesota. I have since gone on to become a Master’s of Sociology graduate student at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. This has afforded me to the ability to also study at Fudan University in Shanghai, China. My studies focus on international law and the prevention of mass atrocities. Something becoming increasingly prevalent in the last decade.
I’m currently applying to PhD and JD programs. During one of the interviews, I realized I still use the skills I developed at Minneapolis College.
Some People I Would Like to Thank
[I would like to tell] Troy Dvorak thank you! His psychology classes were initially what led me to consider that university was a viable choice. Learning about self-efficacy and neuro-plasticity changed the course of my life.
