My Minneapolis College Story

I immigrated to the United States in 1977, not knowing any English. I started at Minneapolis Collage in 1979. I had to pay none resident tuition, which wasn’t easy. I was working at Mr. Bowman and the Vice President's office at the time as well. I could only work 10 hours a week with my student visa. Minneapolis College looked very different and much smaller back then, in the late 70s. I was short of 36 credits when I dropped out. I had three boys and was a busy mom raising my children, but I always regretted that I didn’t finish collage. When my boys were older, I decided to go back to Minneapolis College and finish what I started. I graduated in 1996. When I did my Commencement walk, I was proud of myself and that I graduated and got my degree. I am retired now and have moved to California.

Some People I Would Like to Thank

Mr. Bowman, the Vice President, and his assistant Linda Needem. They were super nice people and had a positive influence on me.
