Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month is recognized during the month of May.
Join APIDA Community Empowerment (ACE) in honoring and celebrating APIDA Heritage Month by Traveling with APIDA Heritage, an event that explores culture, identity, and the diverse journeys within APIDA communities.
Thursday April 30, 2–5:30 p.m. in H.1002, Multipurpose Room
Agenda
- 2 p.m: Panel Discussion Traveling with APIDA Heritage – To honor this traveling spirit, the program will invite three people, who include Minneapolis College faculty, staff, and community member to share three personal or cultural objects that illustrate how their identities move, shift, and transform across time and place.
- 3 p.m: Lunch by Tiffin Man
- 3:30 p.m: Performances by Minnesota Indonesian Society and community singer Jerry Lee
- 4 p.m: Karaoke and dancing including K‑pop, J‑pop, and other diasporic musical traditions with DJ CUTE
Together, these elements create a holistic celebration that honors APIDA heritage as both intellectually rich and joyfully communal—an identity shaped by movement, encounter, and continual transformation.
