This year's theme for the AME MLK celebration is:
What Does it Mean to Be of Service Beyond MLK Day?

Often, MLK Day is the day we gather to complete a service project. Many businesses, schools, colleges, and nonprofits organize a service event and ask their constituents to participate. MLK Day is not just about a day of service. Throughout Dr. King’s life, he emphasized the importance of being loving and dismantling systems that disadvantage communities of color, low-income people, and our neighbors.

This year, AME challenges you to think about:

  • How can we continuously be of service to our communities throughout the year?
  • Who is your community?
  • How much time do you have to dedicate to your community?
  • What resources or skills can you offer to your community?

Join us for our annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration as we honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and explore what it means to live a life of service. All students, faculty, staff, and community members are welcome. We look forward to coming together to reflect, connect, and celebrate Dr. King’s enduring legacy!
